City of Lake View, to authorize municipal court to recall bench warrant for fee

This bill authorizes the municipal court in the City of Lake View, Tuscaloosa County, to recall arrest warrants for failure to appear or comply with court orders upon payment of a fee. The legislation allows judges or magistrates to set a recall fee of up to $100, which the defendant must pay at the time the warrant is cleared. While the court has the discretion to issue recall orders, this act does not require them to do so and specifies that any collected fees must be deposited into the city's corrections fund. The law became effective on October 1, 2024.
