HB 433 Alabama House · 2024 Regular Session

Montgomery County; sheriff's office, use of credit cards or debit cards authorized.

This bill authorizes the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office to use a credit card for approved purchases of goods and services. To ensure responsible use, the sheriff must create written rules that set spending limits for individual and monthly transactions, restrict access to the card to the sheriff or their designated representative, and require regular audits and timely bill payments. Any rewards or rebates earned from using the card must be deposited into the Sheriff's Fund, and the sheriff is responsible for selecting a card provider based on fees, interest rates, and other financial factors. The law takes effect on October 1, 2024.
