Law enforcement, further provides for reimbursement for transporting for extradition

This bill updates the reimbursement rates for state agents, such as sheriffs, who transport accused individuals across state lines for extradition purposes. Under the new provisions, these agents will be paid the same daily and mileage rates as other state employees traveling on official business, replacing the previous fixed amounts of eight dollars per day and ten cents per mile. The legislation also includes minor technical edits to modernize the language of the existing code. Effective October 1, 2024, the changes apply to expenses incurred when bringing an accused person back to Alabama for trial or sentencing.
